2012 Ramblings
Placerville Speedway Point Racing Round 5 Sunday May 13, 2012 1:45am By Boo Brown
Last nights race at Placerville Speedway had a good field of 360 Sprints. Twenty-four cars signed in and Andy was the eleventh car out to qualify. He set fast time on his first lap and would hold the point until who was supposed to be the final qualifier, Jimmy Trulli, went out. Trulli was able to take the top spot from Andy. The heat race action saw Trulli miss a transfer spot while Andy was able to finish in the fourth position in his heat race. With Andy's fourth place finish this made him the fast transfer and would have to pull the pill for the A main starting inversion. Once again, full time pill puller Jimmy Wall, went to work and this time he pulled the 8-pill. Andy would start the main event back in the eighth spot, or so you would think. The head official was having problems all night long and because of his earlier mistakes the score keepers had the starting line up wrong. They tried at one time to put Andy in the seventh starting spot and move Trulli into the inversion even though he came through the B main. After at least three tries and the line up they finally got it right. Mike Benson lead the field to the green three times before they would get a lap in. Once the race got going Benson moved into the lead and never let it go. Andy quickly moved up, from his eighth place starting spot, into the top five. While running in fourth place the red flag came out on the sixteenth lap for CJ Humphries and Andy pulled up to the outside of Benson. Andy gave Mike some pointers to finish out the final nine laps as he didn't think he had anything for the top three cars. On the restart, third place, Sean Becker, jumped the cushion in turn two and Andy was able to get by. At this point Andy was all over Greg DeCaires for the second spot but every time Andy went to the top, DeCaires was there and the same for every time he went to the bottom. Andy was unable to get by DeCaires but while they were battling for the second spot, Benson was able to pull away and pick up his first Placerville Speedway win. Colby Weiss and Nicole Miller followed the top three across the line to round out the top five.
Next weekend will be another round of Chico and Placerville point races before both tracks take a weekend off so that the Ca Civil War Series can run at MRP and Chico on Memorial Day Weekend.
Round #5 at Silver Dollar Speedway Friday May 11, 2012 11:45pm By Boo Brown
Tonight was the 5th round of points racing at Silver Dollar Speedway. Andy was the first car out to qualify and with only fifteen cars on the nights roster it didn't hurt him to bad. He ended up sixth quick. The two heat race format had him starting in the fourth starting spot in the second heat race. Andy was able to move into third on the opening lap and hold the position through the race despite the vibration in the car. After the heat race the team changed out the rear end and drive line in hopes of getting rid of the vibration. The main event had Andy starting in the fifth position as the result of the four pill being pulled for the starting inversion. The start saw Andy fall back into the sixth spot briefly but he would battle back to fifth in the opening laps. After battling with fourth place car of Kevin Sharrah for several laps Andy would make the pass and move into fourth where he would finish the race. Sean Becker won the race and was followed across the line by M. Moore, M. Henry, Andy and J. M. Bunch rounded out the top five.
Andy had an eleven point lead over Becker going into the nights action and by some quick calculations he should still be in the lead with a mere three point lead.
Tomorrow Andy will be back in action in the F&F x1 at Placerville Speedway looking to redeem himself from last weekend.
Fast x1, Slow Lapper, Not Good Saturday May 5, 2012 11:40pm By Boo Brown
Tonight's Placerville Speedway's round #4 of their points season had 21 sprint cars sign in. Andy set quick time in qualifying with a time of 10.733 on a night were only four drivers broke into the 10 second bracket. The three heat race format would transfer the top five finishers to the main event and Andy would start his in the sixth spot and finish fifth. With Andy transferring out of his heat race to the main event that put the "Official Pill Puller", Jimmy Wall, into action. Jimmy pulled the zero pill to put Andy on the pole for the A main.
The start of the main event saw Andy take the lead and stretch it out to almost a straightaway within the first two laps. Midway through the race Andy rocketed off of turn two and was going to the inside of a lapped car when contact was made with Andy's right rear and the lappers left front. The contact folded the lappers front end and broke the right rear shock on the x1. The caution was out as the lapper came to a stop. Andy stayed in the lead and was informed of his broken shock.
On the restart, Andy showed that the broken, but still dangling from the car, shock was not hurting the handling of the car. On the second lap after the restart the caution came out for the 14r of Stephen Allard for a broken rear end. While under yellow the right rear tire on Andy's car was cut down by the dangling shock. Not wanting to hold the show up and restart the race to just cause another caution Andy pulled the x1 into the work area for repairs as the track crew was removing Allard's car. The tire was changed on the x1 but the infinite wisdom, or lack there of, of head official Mike Andrietta, he restarted the race without giving two caution laps for the team to make repairs. The x1 team was done for the night and was scored with a 17th place finish.
The new top five in points is posted below. Silver Dollar Speedway, Round #4 Friday May 4, 2012 11:40pm By Boo Brown
Round 4 of the Silver Dollar Speedway's point season saw 23 410's sign in. Andy was the 9th car out to qualify and at that time was 3rd quick. By the end of qualifying he was 13th quick. Andy was able to win his heat race going away and with the 6 pill pulled for the starting inversion of the A main he would start back in the 13th spot. He had his hands full at the beginning of the main but was able to make his way up to 9th by the 9th lap when the yellow flag was thrown for early leader Cody Lamar who had spun off of turn three. It took a couple of tries to get the race restarted and on the second attempt Andy was able to get by three cars. That was all for not as the red flag flew for a tommy tip over in turn three. Once the race got back under way Andy was able to continue moving forward and at the checkered he was in 5th. Justin Sanders won from the front row and was followed across the line by Shane Stewart, Roger Crockett, Kyle Hirst and Andy. Tomorrow night Andy will be in action in the F&F x1 at Placerville Speedway. They will not be running the Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial Race. It's About Time Sunday April 29, 2012 11:10pm By Boo Brown
Yep, I said it. It's about time someone posted the results from last night's CA Civil War Race held at Petaluma Speedway. The Petaluma Speedway's website was updated with the MyLaps results. I am pretty sure the Civil War staff was waiting for results from the track staff so their website hasn't been updated at the time of this release. In this day and computer age, I just don't understand why it took so long to post results. Usually the MyLaps website is updated within minutes of the final checkered flag. I am sure there is a good excuse.
OK, from the results that I retrieved I calculated the point standings. As you can see, Andy sits back in 14th, tied with Robert Stice, 15 points out of the lead. With one race down and hopefully 13 to go, Andy has a little bit of an uphill road to Hough to get his 7th title. If there is a team and driver out there that can come from this deficit, it is Andy and the F&F Racing, Redline Oil, PIT Stop USA, Autism Awareness, Levin's Auto Supply, Butler Built, Inventory Sales Company, Sierra Single Ply Roofing and Solar, Roseville Precision, CRV Carbon Solutions x1 Team.
Race winner, Brett Rollag is at the top of the board in a tie with second place finisher, Kyle Hirst.

CA Civil War Points After Round 1
Sunday 4/29/12 11:30am (Auburn, CA)First off, sorry for the late update. I had a computer program glitch last night while trying to update. Now onto last nights update. Petaluma Speedway held this year’s round one of the CA Civil War Series. They had a good car count with 34 cars signed in. Andy was the 20th car to go out to qualify and at that time was 5th quick. When it was all said and done he ended up 12th quick. He would finish of the month of Aprils heat races with yet another 3rd place and the transfer to the main event. On this night the 4 pill was pulled for the starting inversion and this put Andy back in the 10th starting spot. The track was hooked up and fast and once they were able to complete a lap Andy had moved into 8th. He had his hands full trying to get by the 7th place car but once he did he reeled in the 6th place and was able to make his way up to 4th place. On the 28th lap as Andy drove into turn 3 the pitman arm stripped out and Andy lost his steering. The car turned hard right (similar to when a NASCAR driver cuts a right front tire down) and hit the wall. The caution was out and with curfew approaching they checkered the race. At this time I am not sure of Andy's scored finish as the results from the track or Series have not been published yet. Friday 4/27/12 11:15pm (Durham, CA)Tonight's race at Silver Dollar Speedway was was the 3rd points race of the year for the speedway but there were no 410's. Instead they had the 360's running. Andy was in his family car for the night and for the 3rd week in a row he set fast time. With 20 cars signed in for the night there was three heat races and Andy finished 3rd in his race. The main event had the 6 pill pulled putting Kyle Hirst and Willy Croft on the front row with Mason Moore and Jon Allard in row 2 and Rico Abreu and Andy in the 3rd row. Andy didn't get a good start but would hold onto the 6th spot. He was ind a 4 car battle for the majority of the race but would end up crossing the line in 6th. Abreu won his first Sprint car main event and was followed by Croft, Moore, Allard and Hirst. Andy will be heading to Petaluma Speedway tomorrow, for what is now the opening round of the 2012 CA Civil War Series and yes, he will be in the F&F Racing x1.
Placerville Speedway Point Race #3 and Win #1 Sunday April 22, 2012 2:45am By Boo Brown
Last nights race at Placerville Speedway had 31 cars show up for the nights
action. Next week Andy will be back in his family car on Friday night at the Silver Dollar Speedway for an open 360 race then on Saturday in the F&F x1 at the Petaluma Speedway for what was supposed to be the 3rd round of the Civil War Series but will actually be the opening round after two rain outs earlier this season. Friday 4/20/12 11:55pm (Chico, CA)Tonight at Silver Dollar Speedway they ran five divisions and had a total around 56 cars. The 410 Sprint Cars fielded 18. Andy drew the lowest pill and would be the first car out to qualify. He would set the time to beat on his first lap at 12.548. Nobody was able to beat his time so Andy was fast time for second time in as any races. Andy went on to finish 3rd in his heat race and would have to pull the pill for the A main starting inversion. This time the 8-pill was pulled and Andy would have his work cut out for him. Tyler Wolf would lead every lap from the pole position and Andy would fight his way up to 4th. On the white flag lap they caution came out setting up a green, white and checkered. On the restart Roger Crocket got by Andy for 4th place. Wolf won and was followed by Rico Abreu, Cody Lamar, Crocket and Andy. Andy now holds the points lead by 8 over Wolf with Becker 9 back in 3rd, Bumgarner 12 back in 4th and Abreu 13 back in 5th. Andy will be back in the F&F Racing x1 tomorrow night at Placerville Speedway. Friday 4/20/12 10:30am (Auburn, CA)With the nice weather, Andy and the A&A Motorsports #92 Team will be heading to Silver Dollar Speedway for tonight's 5th Annual Bill Brownell 410 sprint car race. Tomorrow Andy will be back in action at Placerville Speedway in the F&F Racing x1.
MRP Done Too Friday April 13, 2012 6:15pm By Boo Brown
The weekend is a complete wash out. Marysville Raceway Park has fallen to heavy rains. Promoter, Paul Hawes, announced earlier this afternoon "No matter how hard we worked with the pumps we couldn't get ahead of the continuous rain". The forecast for tomorrow will be sunny but there is only so much any of these promoters can do to try and get a race in and this weeks rains just overtook all of our tracks and made it virtually impossible to hold a race. We at Forsberg Racing would like to thank all of the track promoters for trying their hardest and also for knowing when to throw in the towel. It gave us the time and opportunity to look for a different tracks to possibly visit. We even looked to see if All American Speedway in Roseville, CA would be running USAC Pavement Sprints. Unfortunately they are not running there this season.
Next weekend Andy will be back in action at Silver Dollar Speedway on Friday aboard the A&A Motorsports #92 410 sprint car for the second round of points racing. He is currently in a three way tie with Sean Becker and Kyle Larson. On Saturday he will be back in the F&F Racing x1 at Placerville Speedway for round three of their point series.
Petaluma Cancels Saturday's Races, MRP Still On Friday April 13, 2012 12:15pm By Boo Brown
Ok folks, Petaluma has canceled tomorrows race due to the weather. Paul Hawes at MPR has states on a message board that he is pumping water and will try to get tomorrows race in. He will make the call this evening around 8pm. With that said, if they are able to get the race off Andy will be there with a minor change. He called and said that the F&F x1 will be race and not his family car. So, lets keep our fingers crossed that MRP is able to get the race in.
Placerville and Thunderbowl Speedways Cancel Saturday's Races Thursday April 12, 2012 10:35pm By Boo Brown Well, Mother Nature has claimed two more races for this weekend. Placerville Speedway website states, "Due to heavy rains that saturated the grounds well into Thursday night" for the cancellation. For the rest of their article please click the link to their website below. Tulare's website stays they cancelled due to recent and forecasted rain for their cancellation. With these two tracks canceling today that only leaves two tracks left for possible races on Saturday. Petaluma Speedway and Marysville Raceway Park. If one of the tracks are able to get their scheduled race in then the Andy and the Forsberg Family #92 will be there. Stay tuned to see if and or where well will be heading. For those of you that have not heard yet, this Saturday, April 14th, the 26th Annual Chili Bowl will be televised on CBS at 11am Pacific Time. That is Channel 13 for those in the greater Sacramento area. and http://www.thunderbowlraceway.com/
Ocean Speedway Cancels Friday's Races Wednesday April 11, 2012 4:05pm By Boo Brown This Friday's, April 13th, race scheduled at Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, CA has been cancelled. According to the Ocean Speedway website they have stated that the pit area is to wet. Andy and the Forsberg Racing #92 Team will have the night off as there is no other tracks in the area that have a race scheduled for Friday night. Andy and the F&F Racing x1 are still planning on being at Placerville Speedway for round two on Saturday night. If the forecasted rain for the rest of the week forces Handy Race Promotions to cancel Saturday's race the Andy and the Forsberg Racing #92 Team will look at other options. We are looking at Tulare's USAC race or possibly track point races at MRP or Petaluma. This will all depend on the weather. We are hoping to be able to get one night of racing in this weekend. We will post here on Saturday as to where Andy will be racing.
Placerville Speedway Opening Points Night Saturday April 7, 2012 11:45pm By Boo Brown Placerville Speedway's Opening Points Night saw Andy qualify 5th out of the 20-car field. His heat race he was able to quickly move from his 5th place starting position into 3rd. He put pressure on 2nd place for a few laps before just settling into 3rd for the finish. The 8-pill was drawn for the A main starting inversion, putting Andy in the 5th starting position. The initial start was good for Andy as he again quickly move into 3rd and was battling for 2nd coming off of turn two but contact between the 22 and 91 cars forced both of them to come to a stop on the back stretch bringing out the caution flag. Andy did not get a good start on the restart and would be in 6th as he exited turn two. Towards the end of the race Andy was able to move into 5th and on the last lap he pulled a great slid-job to move into fourth place for the finish. Greg DeCaires won the race and was followed across the line by Sean Becker, Stephen Allard, Andy and Dennis Harvey rounded out the top five. Next week Andy is scheduled to run the second round of the Taco Bravo Series at Ocean Speedway in Watsonville on Friday and back to Placerville for Saturday. The weather forecast for this upcoming week at this time is showing rain during the week. We are hoping to get both nights in. The backup plan for Saturday is to head to Thunder Bowl Speedway in Tulare, CA for a Western States USAC race. Stay tuned here for any last minute changes to the weekend race schedule. Silver Dollar Speedway Opening Points Night Friday April 6, 2012 11:55pm By Boo Brown
Silver Dollar Speedway's Opening Points Night saw Andy set fast time with a blistering 14.493 on his first lap. The track would stay mercky all night long, keeping the speeds and lap times down. In his heat race Andy would up to 3rd place from his 6th starting spot. Andy drew the 4-pill for the A main starting inversion. This put Sean Becker on the pole with Rico Abreu on the outside. Kyle Larson would start third with Andy outside of him followed by the rest of the field. It took three try's to get the race started and throughout the event it appeared as though no one could put two good laps together with cars pushing up the track in the middle of the turns or bicycling. Andy would fall back to fifth before making his way back up to third for the finish. Another good night for the 92 team. By my calculations Andy is in a three way tie for the points lead with Sean Becker and Kyle Larson. Andy is also second in points in the Taco Bravo Series at Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, CA but is not planning on running their full schedule. Andy will be in the F&F x1 tomorrow night at Placerville Speedway for their opening night.
Taco Bravo Opening Night Quick Results Friday March 30, 2012 11:25pm By Boo Brown Quick results: 17 Taco Bravo cars. Andy went out early and ended up 6th quick. He had a good heated battle with Ronnie Day in the heat race with Andy winning it. A six pill was pull for the starting inversion by fast qualifier, Geoff Ensign. That put Andy on the pole of the A main event. Andy lead for awhile in the beginning before slipping back to fourth place. A late race restart gave Andy the opportunity to move up to third for the finish. All in all a good night. With a 60% chance of rain forecasted for Hanford tomorrow we have made the decision to head back home tonight and not head to Hanford.
Silver Cup Night Two Quick Results Saturday March 10, 2012 11:30pm By Boo Brown This night there was thirty sprint cars in attendance. Andy would once again qualify in the 2nd spot after going out 16th. His heat race on this night didn't go as good as last night but he was able to move into 4th place and transfer to the A main. The 8-pill was pulled for the second night in a row and Andy was able to start the race in 7th place. The track was junk and on the start the outside row was hung out to dry. Andy moved up to 6th on the start then proceeded to follow the cars in front on him on the bottom of the very slow and dry slick track. At the end of the yawn fest main event Andy was in 4th place and in contention for hard charger as he moved up 3 positions from the start. Colby Weiss won the main followed by Gregg DeCaires, Sean Becker, Andy and Nick Green rounded out the top 5. After the race was over the top 5 were suppose to got to the scales and Nick Green went back to his trailer and was DQ'd. That moved Kyle Hirst into 5th. All in all it was a good night for the Forsberg Family 92 Race Team. Next week and will be in the F&F Racing x1 for the opening night of the 2012 Civil War Series at Marysville Raceway Park.
Silver Cup Night One Quick Results Friday March 9, 2012 11:45pm By Boo Brown
Twenty-Seven sprint cars in attendance. Andy was the 14th car out to qualify and turned two laps good enough for fast time at that time. He held the top spot until Willie Croft went out in the 26th spot. Andy started his heat race in 6th and quickly moved into 2nd where he would finish. The A main was suppose to see Andy start in the 7th spot but a part malfunction saw him pull into the work area as the field was lining up. Andy tagged the back of the field and on lap 6 was caught up in crash in front of him. He was able to drive off as the red flag came out and brought the 92 into the work area. Repairs to the nose wing were made and he was send back out to tag the rear again. Andy was able to make his way into the top ten. With three laps to go the yellow flag was out again. On the restart Colby Weiss' car did not go and he idled around the track. The green stayed out and Kyle Hirst spun in turn three to bring the yellow again. Colby head to his pit area and as the rest of the field paraded around the track the race was checkered. Andy was scored with an 8th place finish while Colby was scored in 4th while not even finishing the race.
A big Thank You to Shane Golobic, Trent Canales, the guy's from the Tri C team and everybody else who helped us before the start of the A main and after the lap 6 crash.
We are hoping for a better night tomorrow.
Sherm Toller Memorial Saturday March 3, 2012 11:55pm By Boo Brown Andy started on the pole of his first heat race and fell back to 3rd with a car that was a little tight. his second heat race he was schedule to start in the eighth spot but with two cars on the outside row did not make it out for the race and the officials moved Andy up to the fourth place starting spot. This was the wrong call but Andy moved into position. Andy's car was loosened up for this race but not enough and would he slipped back to a fifth place finish. His two heat race finishes were only good enough for a fourteenth place starting spot in the A main event. Andy was good and started to move forward early in the race. He moved up to eighth place and while battling for seventh he was passed by Herman Kline and would be scored with ninth place.
Opening Night Recap Saturday February 25, 2012 11:35pm By Boo Brown Andy's opening night for 2012 saw him qualify 20th out of the 37-car field. In heat race action Andy was scheduled to start 3rd but ended up on the pole. He was able to get the jump and lead every lap and pull off the win by 10 car lengths. The main event had Andy starting in 18th. Things were looking good for the first few laps until contact was made with another car coming off turn four. Andy's right rear went flat and with curfew approaching the officials gave the crew no time to change the tire. The race went on without Andy. 2011 Ramblings Two Nights, Three Races, Two Cars Race Added to Schedule has Andy and Team pulling Double Duty on Saturday Wednesday October 5, 2011 4:55pm By Boo Brown The Forsberg Race Team has added one night and two races to the schedule. The night is this coming Saturday October 8th. The races are the So-Cal ASCS and the USAC West Coast 360 at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, CA. They will pull double duty for the first time this season. I am not sure if this was Andy's way of paying me back for our last minute pavement race earlier this year that I suggested but at least he gave us plenty of time to get ready so there was no rushing around and thrashing to make it to the race on time.
Today went like this. I received a call late this morning from Andy asking if I knew if they were
running non-wing cars this coming Saturday at Tulare along with the ASCS So-Cal
series. I knew that they were running both classes but didn't let him know
earlier because the last time we did the double duty the night didn't go so well
and he said that we just won't try it again. Andy said "well, I'm thinking like
Boo. I think we can get both cars into the A&A trailer if we leave the Kubota
home". I reminded him about the last time we did the double duty. With both cars
ready to race, Andy made the decision to run both cars if we can get everything
we need into the one trailer. It would be a few hours before I would be able to
make it over to the
By the time I made it to the shop Andy was almost done transferring everything from the open trailer to the A&A trailer. You see, the original plan was to just run Andy's 360 winged car at Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, CA on Friday in the Taco Bravo Series then head to Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, CA for Saturday's ASCS So-Cal Series. We were just going to use the open trailer and try and save a little fuel with the lighter setup. The tools and spare parts were already transferred from the A&A trailer to the open trailer. Once everything was transferred back to the A&A trailer the focus was turned to putting the quad and two sprint cars in. We started with the red quad that is set up as a mini mule and is bigger then our little push quad that fits in through the side door. Once we drove the quad in between the tire rack and parts cabinet we new that we would have to adjust the tires on the lower portion of the tire rack. With the quad in place we brought the non-wing car out with front tires on all four corners. It was backed into the trailer and once it was in place we new that we had room for the winged car. The problem was where was the spare wing going to go. After trying a couple of different places the only place for it was to strap it to the cage of the non-wing car. Both the car and quad were pulled out of the trailer to finish loading the tires and other spares for the weekend. The rain would start up again as we were getting ready to put the non-wing car back in the trailer and Richard and Bill showed up to help with the finishing touch. The tricky part was the spare wing. We hadn't finalized how it was going to be strapped to the cage without using the normal wing mounts. Once that was secured the winged car was rolled in and the trailer loaded. The Forsberg Racing, Autism Awareness, Red Line Oil, K&N Filters, Dirt Solutions, ISC Racers Tape #92 Team is loaded and ready for the weekends racing action.
Silver Dollar Speedway Round #14 Friday August 19, 2011 11:15pm By Boo Brown Silver Dollar Speedway had 16 sprint cars show up for round #14. Andy qualified 4th with point leader Tyler Wolf qualifying 5th. This made the points race a 1 point battle going into the heat races. Wolf had the better heat race and finished 2nd and Andy was only able to finish 5th in his heat race. The points battle now had Wolf with a 4 point advantage going into the A main event. Wolf would start in 4th and Andy was in 5th. Wolf apparently missed the set up as he was loosing positions quickly. Andy was able to move into 4th and would hold that position until the lap 12 twelve yellow. During the caution the right rear tire was going down so Andy pulled into the work area where his crew change out the tire and sent him back out. He would tag the rear of the field with only one car between him and Wolf. On the restart something hit Andy's visor and it dropped blocking his view going through turns 3 and 4. At the same time the yellow came out again and Andy was unable to see the caution lights. He made contact with the rear of Wolf's car. The contact destroyed the nose wing and knocked the left front shock tower off the car. Andy came back into the work area and the crew removed the nose wing and left front shock. There was no time to weld the tower back on so they sent Andy back out without a left front shock. The race went nonstop from that point and Andy would finish two positions behind Wolf. The points spread is now 6 going into the final night next Friday night. Andy will be in the F&F x1 tomorrow night at Placerville Speedway.
Silver Dollar Speedways has a New Points Leader Saturday July 16, 2011 1:35pm By Boo Brown
Silver Dollar Speedways Round 11 had a shake up in the points battle. The shake up happened during hot laps as points leader Sean Becker had a catastrophic failure in the motor and was done for the night. With Becker out, the fight for the lead was between Andy Forsberg, 2nd in points, and Tyler Wolf who was trailing Forsberg by only 2 points.
This night would have 20-cars sign in but with Becker's continued bad luck, earlier in the night then his recent misfortunes, only 19 would be able to qualify. Wolf would set the quick time for the night and earn 5 points for his effort. Forsberg would turn a time good enough for third and the 3 points that comes with it. With their qualifying efforts Forsberg and Wolf were tied for the points lead going into the heat races.
Wolf, with his fast time, would start 6th in the first heat race. He was able to move up to 4th for the finish and earn another 2 points. Forsberg, by virtue of being 3rd quick, would start 6th in the third heat race. He too was able to make his way into 4th for the finish of his heat race and keep pace with Wolf as he too earn another 2 points. They would go into the main event still tied for the points lead and whoever finishes in front would go home the new leader.
The main event inversion pill was pulled by Wolf and he pulled the six pill. This put him starting 6th with Forsberg in the 4th position. The front row was made up with Colby Copeland on the pole and Jason York on the outside. Brett Miller lined up on the inside of Forsberg and Colton Heath was to the inside of Wolf. The original start saw Forsberg get around the outside of York and Copeland going down the front stretch. He would have the lead going into turn one but it was Copeland who battled back and took the lead coming off of turn two. The red flag would come out for Kory Lovell who flipped in turn four on the first lap. The race would have a complete restart. Copeland went to the work area with mechanical problems and would not return for the restart. This moved Miller to the pole and on the restart he would take the lead and never look back. Forsberg would again go to the outside of York and moved into second as they exited turn two. He would need lap traffic to pass Miller but the yellow flags and dwindling field of cars did not help and the chance never developed. Miller went on to win the race and the #83 nipped Forsberg at the checkers, by .029, for 2nd. Forsberg finished third followed by Heath and Wolf rounded out the top five. Wolf was able to move up to 4th at one point in the race.
On this night both Forsberg and Wolf would earn 43 points total thus Forsberg is now the current points leader by only 2 points. Forsberg has the lead with only competing in ten of the eleven events run. Forsberg is now the points leader at two tracks and one traveling series. He holds the lead at Silver Dollar Speedway, Placerville Speedway and the California Civil War Series. It is believed that he is the first to hold all three points lead at the same time. I need to research it though.
Forsberg is currently scheduled to miss the next points race on the 29th of this month as he has a National ASCS race at Placerville Speedway on the books.
Forsberg Wins Civil War at Petaluma Sunday July 10, 2011 9:15pm By Boo Brown
After a disappointing 12th place finish in round eight at Ocean Speedway, Andy and the F&F Racing team heading into round nine at Petaluma Speedway with a single point advantage over Steven Tiner. During routine maintenance in the hotel parking lot, Co-owner and crew chief Alan Bradway found that the right front shock was dead. The shock was changed out and the team was looking for much better results in this nights program. There was 30 cars signed in for the nights racing action. Andy was the 22nd car out to qualify and with a blistering lap time of 14.003, on the dry slick track, was 8th quick. He was 4th quick at that time but four other drivers would post faster times. One of those drivers was Kyle Hirst who went out 29th and set the fast time for the night with a time of 13.548. Andy's qualifying time put him on the inside of the third row for the heat race. On the initial start of the heat race the pole sitter jumped the start and was sent to the back. That moved Andy up to the second row for the start. Andy was able to move up to 2nd on the start as the low line was the preferred starting spot on this dry slick racing surface. Dean Freitas lead every lap in the heat race but Andy was trying harder then normal to win the race and get that one more point for the position. Freitas was able to hold off Andy for the finish. With his 2nd place finish in the heat race and Tiner's win in his heat race the two drivers were tied for the points lead going into the nights main event. Whoever finishes in front will leave the night with the points lead. Tonight the 6-pill was pulled, by Mason Moore who was the 10th quickest qualifier to transfer out of the heat races, and that put Andy on the pole position for the start of the race with Shane Golobic outside him. Sean Becker and the 18 car made up the second row and Alissa Geving and fast qualifier Kyle Hirst made up the third row. Andy was able to jump into the lead on the start and led all 30 laps. Even though he lead all 30 laps it was a hard fought battle as Becker was to move into 2nd in the early laps of the race and kept the pressure on throughout the race as he also held off Golobic and Hirst. Both drivers were able to make their way through lapped traffic until the 28th lap. In heavy lapped traffic one of the lapped cars spun in turn three, Andy swerved towards the infield to avoid the spinning car, Becker right on Andy's rear bumper did not see the spinning car and made contact. The yellow was out and Becker's night was over. Golobic tried to make a last ditch effort on the closing laps but Andy was able to put a couple of car lengths between them at the checkers. Andy pulled off his 4th win in the Civil War Series, his 5th win in the x1 and 7th win on the year. Tiner would not have the night that he had hoped for as he started 16th and was only able to make his way up to 11th at the finish. With Andy's win and Tiner's 11th place, Andy now has a 13 point advantage going into round #10 in two weeks back at Petaluma Speedway.
Civil War #8 at Ocean Speedway Saturday July 9, 2011 12:15pm By Boo Brown
Bannered as the Taco Bravo Sprints vs the Calif. Civil War Series, the 8th round of the Civil War Series did not have a great show of support from the top 32 in points. In fact only sixteen of the drivers signed in for tonight's race had run a Civil War race this season.
In qualifying Andy was the first out, of the thirty-six drivers signed in, and timed in with times of 11.848 and 11.951. His first lap held fast time threw the first group of qualifying. The first car out in the second group was Ronny Day and he would set fast time for the night with an 11.692. By the time the second group was done qualifying, Andy had dropped to fourth with Bud Kaeding and Tommy Tarlton both posted times in the 11.7 bracket. Andy's time held fourth quick until Kyle Larson went out in the fourth group and set the third quickest lap of the night. Andy ended up fifth quick and would start fifth in the first heat race.
The track was narrow and hooked up for the first heat race. On the first lap, the outside second row starter, Car #18, jumped the cushion in turn three and brought out the caution. The restart saw Andy hold onto fifth for a few laps behind Kyle Hirst, who started third. Midway threw the race Hirst got tight in turn three and pushed up the track. Andy was able to capitalize on Hirst's misfortune and make the pass or fourth. Andy was able to hold off Hirst at the checkers for the final transfer to the main event.
This main event had the 10-pill pulled for the starting inversion. This put Rico Abreu on the poll with Alissa Geving on the outside. Andy was scheduled to start seventh with Kyle Larson on his outside. The start had third place starter, Ryan Rusconi, spin in turn three. Andy was able to avoid him as he went to the infield. The restart had Andy up in fifth and he would hold this position for a short time. As the race went on Andy would try both the high and low lines to no avail. He would slip back to twelfth at the finish. The 83jr won the race, from his fourth place starting spot, followed by Larson, Abreu, Tarlton and Geving rounded out the top five.
Second in points, Steven Tiner had a good night and came from 12th to finish 7th and close the points battle to a 1 point deficit. Hirst came from 22nd to finish 11th and move past Sean Becker for 3rd in points. Becker had a disappointing night. They started with motor issues and didn't qualify in the inversion. The motor issue carried over to the heat race and he pulled in after one lap. The 2sb team fixed the problem for the B main but he was starting deep in the field. Becker finish in 8th missing the transfer by two positions.
The Civil War Series is back in action tonight at the Petaluma Speedway. See you there
Silver Dollar Speedway 4th of July Show Monday July 4, 2011 11:55pm By Boo Brown
This years 4th of July race at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, CA was a hot one with temperatures breaking into the triple digits. The A&A Motorsports team started out by setting up the massive Redline Oil popup tent and put some misters on it to keep them cool throughout the evening. Then Andy went and drew his qualifying pill. His draw put him fourth out on the 18-car field.
After both groups of sprint cars went out for two rounds of hot laps it was onto qualifying. Andy ended up being the fifth car out to qualify and only turned a time of 12.756. This time put him 9th quick on the field and gave him a front row starting spot fir his heat race. Andy went on to lead every lap and win his heat race. Once the heat races were finished the main event inversion pill was pulled. Tonight's pill was a zero, putting Andy back in the eighth spot for the start. At the waiving of the green flag, Andy started moving forward and was in sixth as he exited turn two on the first lap. As the race went on Andy moved forward and was in third when the final caution flag came out on lap-23. With a green white checkered left, Andy in third with one lap car scheduled to start in between Andy and second place there was still a chance at another win especially when the lapped car decided to start at the rear of the field. Unfortunately this wasn't Andy's night, he didn't get a good restart and stayed in third for the final two laps.
Another good run. Andy closed up the point gap between himself and Sean Becker. By my calculations there should only be a one point difference but the Silver Dollar Speedway Staff has it as a five point difference. This will be resolved in the coming days as we have already talked with track score keeper Kenny Garcia and will be sending our spread sheet to him in the next day or two for him to review. Lets hope that I have the points correct.
Next weekend Andy will be in the F&F Racing x1 for both nights as the Civil War Series has a double header. Friday is at Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, CA the on Saturday they head to Petaluma.
Civil War Round #7 Sunday July 3, 2011 1:25am By Boo Brown
46-cars showed up for the seventh round of the Civil War Series. Andy was the twelfth car out to qualify and turned an 11.283 on his first lap. This time held up for ninth quick on the field. He would start in the fourth position for the first heat race. On the start of the heat race a water line developed a leak and was spraying water back through the hood and fire wall. Andy was trying to hold on as he was running in the third position but as the motor started to heat up Sean Becker mad the pass and put Andy back in fourth. It wasn't long before Mason Moore got under Andy in turn three and ran him up to the top of turn four and off the racing surface. A couple cars got by him and Andy slid the car off turn two and headed for the pits. The caution flag came out for a spin in turn one. The crew searched for the leak and found it quickly but was unable to make the repair in time as the officials restarted the race. Andy would be scored with a tenth place finish and would have to run the B main.
Starting sixth in the B, Andy had his work cut out for him. He moved into fourth on the start and within a couple laps he was in third. By the the midway point of the race he had moved into second place. Andy tried to run the leader but ran out of time and settled for second place and a trip to the main event.
Andy got his time back behind the inversion. Tonight's inversion was a ten pill. With a thirteenth starting position and a dry slick track Andy was looking for at least a top ten finish. The caution plagued race saw Andy as far up as fifth only to have to positions taken away due to caution flags. It seemed as every time he would pass a car a caution would come out negating the pass. By the end of the main Andy had made his way up to eighth place. Not the night the team was looking for but they still have the points lead.
Andy's next race is Monday the 4th of July at Silver Dollar Speedway for a 410ci points race. The Civil War Series is back in action next week end with a double header, Friday at Ocean Speedway the Petaluma Speedway on Saturday.
Friday Night at Silver Dollar Speedway Friday July 1, 2011 10:11pm By Boo Brown
CENSORED! Andy was second quick on the field of 16-cars. He started 6th in his heat race and finished 3rd. Started 2nd in the main event and lead 23 of the 25 lap race. CENSORED, lap cars (specifically the CENSORED). That's all I can say. If you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all.

Forsberg Gets to Victory Lane in Placerville Sunday June 26, 2011 12:55am By Boo Brown
Last nights race at Placerville Speedway was a busy night for Andy and the F&F Racing, Red Line Oil, Autism Awareness x1 team. They started the night out with the, newly improved, ASCS motor in the car to test and tune it for the upcoming Bull Ring Nationals. The night didn't start out as they had hoped as there was some issues with the motor.
Andy was the first care out to qualify and with the motor not at 100% he was still able to turn a time of 10.853. It didn't take long for some of the other competitors to beat his time and Andy would end up 5th quick on the night. The crew went to work on the motor and improved its performance for the heat race but during the race something slipped and by the end the motor operating temperature was up to 260 degrees. The decision was made to pull this motor out and put the open motor back in. The crew went to work and the swap was completed with plenty of time before the main event.
Marc Mackay was the fast transfer out of the heat races and pulled the 4-pill for the starting inversion. This put Andy on the pole and he would jump into the lead coming off of turn four on the start. Andy never looked back as he lead all 25 laps despite the one red flag and three yellow flags. The last yellow caution came out on lap 21 shortly after Sean Becker had moved into second place from his sixth place staring spot. On the restart Andy went to the top of turns one and two, a change from the majority of his race, and Becker went to the bottom. Andy was able to rail the top and pull away as they exited turn two. The last four laps clicked off quickly and Andy pulled off his first win of the season at his home track.
Silver Dollar Points Race #9 Friday June 24, 2011 10:55pm By Boo Brown
A whapping 13 410 sprint cars showed up with only one be a KoW Series regular. Jason York was fast time with a 12.74 and Andy ended up 4th quick with a 12.794. The heat race saw Andy start and finish in the 5th spot good enough for a transfer to the main event. The zero pill was pulled on this night putting Jason York on the pole and Sean Becker outside him. Andy started in 4th. York would win the race followed by Andy, Becker, Brett Miller from 3rd and Ian Madson from his 5th place starting spot.
The track was great tonight but the car count was pathetic. There was so much potential in the race track to night but unfortunately the low car count kept it from it's true potential. The heat races saw a murky track and for the most part a follow the leader race. The main event was pretty much the same as the heat races, as the low car count in all divisions just could not and did not run the track into its potential for this night. York was able to snooker Becker on the start, with a slight jump that the Silver Dollar Speedway head official did not catch, and grab the lead. Andy made the pass on Miller to move into third going into turn one. York was able to lead all 25-laps for the win. On lap 7 Becker bobbled coming off of turn 2 and Andy was able to make the pass for 2nd in turn 3. The rest of the race Andy tried to real in York who had checked out but he was unable to on the fast but one grooved track. The race was not very exciting due to the low car count but it was still a race.
American Valley Speedway Civil War Friday June 18, 2011 11:50pm By Boo Brown Win number five on the 2011 season came at American Valley Speedway in Quincy, CA. The host track of the sixth round for the Civil War Series had thirty-one cars in the pits. Andy went out 25th and turned two identical laps of 16.164 good enough for 9th quick on the field. Sean Becker set quick time on this night with a 15.940, the only car in the 15 second bracket in qualifying. The invert six heat races had Andy starting fourth in the first heat race with Colby Wiesz and Becker in the third row behind him. Andy was able to move into third on the start. He would finish the race in this spot with Wiesz in fourth and Becker in fifth. Cody Lamar won this heat race from his pole position. After the heat races were completed five drivers who had qualified faster then Andy did not make it out of their heat races. This put Andy as the fourth quickest car to transfer straight to the main event. The main event inversion pill pulled was a four putting Andy on the pole with Brett Rollag on the outside of the front row. Second row starters were Wiesz and Mason Moore. Becker and Sean Wright got their times back after transferring out of the B and lined up in the third row. The initial start of the main saw Wright collect Becker, Trent Canales, Robby Whitchurch and Nicole Miller in turn two. After numerous laps under yellow and no progress in getting the wreck cleaned up the Officials had the red flag thrown bringing the field to a stop. Approximately 30 minutes later, after the wreck was cleared and the cars involved were repaired the cars were re-fired and the field lined up for the second attempt at a start. Andy got the jump for the second time on Rollag and would pull away. Within a few laps Wiesz made the pass on Rollag for second. At one point Andy had a complete straight away lead. The race would go for twenty-six laps before the yellow came out for a slowing Lamar. This set up a four lap dash to the finish with Wiesz right on Andy's tail. The abrasiveness of the track surface had the tires worn down to the point that Andy's right rear was going down. Going into turn one on the restart Andy felt the car drop on the right rear. With Wiesz within a car length of him Andy motored his away around the track the final four laps for the win. As Andy was being interviewed on the front stretch the right rear tire was steadily loosing air and by the time they reached the scales they had to add air just to get the car scaled. Andy was followed across the line by Wiesz, Rollag, Moore and Herman Klein rounded out the top five. After the nights races were complete Andy has soul ownership of the points lead with a 7-point cushion over Klein. Damn, its good to be 9th Quick!
A Good Night the USAC CRA / Western Classic Tribute to NARC Friday June 17, 2011 10:55pm By Boo Brown 31 cars for the USAC CRA/Western Classic Tribute to NARC race at Ocean Speedway tonight. Andy was the fourth car out to qualify and qualified 6th with a time of 13.007. Mike Spencer set fast time with a 12.814. Andy start seventh in his heat and finished 6th. That finish put Andy in the B main where he started third and finished 5th. With his B main finish Andy got his time back for the main behind the inversion. Andy was suppose to lined up eleventh for the start but the 50 car of Mike Spencer had motor problems and would not take the original green. Andy started the race in ninth. The original green had a red flag for multiple cars that flipped in turn two. The restart had Andy in fifth and he would move up to fourth before the red came out again. On that restart the 50 car of Spenser had joined the field. The next restart would go green for an number of laps. Andy would run in the top five for awhile before sliding back to tenth. On the last red of the race some changes were made to the Autism Awareness, Redline Oil #92 and Andy was able to move up to seventh for the finish. This was another good night for the Forsberg Racing 92 team at Ocean Speedway after two terrible outings last year and one in 2009 there. FEATURE: (30 laps) 1. Cory Kruseman, 2. Geoff Ensign, 3. Mike Spencer, 4. Matt Mitchell, 5. Nic Faas, 6. Shane Golobic, 7. Andy Forsberg, 8. Cody Williams, 9. Austin Williams, 10. Tony Hunt, 11. Eric Rossi, 12. Danny Sheridan, 13. Rip Williams, 14. Andy is back in the F&F Racing x1 tomorrow night this time up at American Valley Speedway in Quincy, CA. He is definitely getting some highway time in this weekend with the 4 hour drive south to Ocean Speedway then 4 hours back home a good 3 hours north to American Valley Speedway tomorrow and back home after the races there.
